I started by tracing reference images of capybaras which I then simplified into core features and shapes. I tried a few different poses and facial expressions, as well as color schemes. While I originally envisioned a purple scheme to be a fun version of the capybara's natural brown color, we decided instead on a green coloring that stood out and went well with the other colors utilized throughout the company’s website.
